Why You Need Dental Cleaning Regularly

If you are conscious about your oral hygiene and your families, it is important for you and your family to clean your teeth and floss your teeth, each and every day.

No ifs and’s or buts.

The “brushing your teeth” process involves removing plaque from your teeth in order to prevent them from developing cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease. So when your kids ask, “Why Do I need to Brush My Teeth?”, you can just show your kids a picture of Gum Disease or any other tooth decay and that will get them to brush their teeth.

Maintaining Oral Hygiene

You can maintain proper oral hygiene yourself by following these SEDA Dental “Tooth Tips” :

  • Brushing your teeth thoroughly twice a day using a toothpaste that has fluoride in it
  • By flossing daily
  • Eating a balanced diet and limiting snack between meals
  • Rinsing with fluoride mouth wash based on your dentist’s recommendation[/sociallocker]

Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly doesn’t necessarily guarantee your oral safety; plaque can still develop.. If it is not treated or removed, it can cause the gum to develop a number of diseases. A visit to your doctor on a semiannual basis will help in preventing this, and additionally, assist in avoiding any other dental problems as well.

Process of Dental cleaning

Plaque and tartar that has built up on your teeth is removed with the help of dental cleaning. The process of dental cleaning is carried out by scaling and polishing the teeth. This keeps the surface of your teeth smooth and clean, so that there is no chance of bacteria developing in your teeth.

Scaling

Scaling is done in two simple steps. First, your SEDA Dental dentist will knock off larger pieces of tartar present on your teeth with the help of an ultrasonic instrument which uses tickling vibrations, while at the same time spraying a mist of water to wash off the debris. This device is by no means sharp since it is only used to knock off tartar on your teeth and not cut into it. If the sensations are too strong for your liking, you can ask your dentist to adjust the pressure accordingly.

Once the larger pieces of tartar have been knocked off, your dentist will move onto hand tools to remove the smaller deposits and make the surface smooth. These tools are curved which allows the deposits to be cleaned by carefully scraping them off with the right amount of pressure.

Polishing

Once the surface of your teeth is smooth, your dentist will then carry out the polishing procedure. This procedure is carried out by using a soft rubber cup that spins; toothpaste like material is scooped up into the cup and spun around the teeth.

Regular dental check up is important if you want to keep your teeth and gums healthy. The check up will help your dentist in guiding you regarding your overall oral health and your trouble areas (if any). Your dentist will remove any plaque and tartar that might have buildup on your teeth and if required, polish it as well.

Having a good oral hygiene has numerous benefits, saving you from further and more dangerous health complications. With a regular SEDA Dental cleaning, our team of professional dentist helps your teeth’s health by removing plaque and tartar that helps keep a healthy gum and reducing the number of cavities in your mouth.
