Sometimes a tooth is so severely decayed that it cannot be saved and used in restoration. Sometimes a tooth may need to be extracted so that we can replace it with a denture, bridge, crown and dental implant.
The most common extraction are impacted wisdom teeth. Other teeth typically crowd the third molars, making it harder to keep the wisdom teeth properly cleaned, as a result they become infected or decayed, inflaming the gums and causing painful swelling.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth – also known as third molars – typically appear between the ages of 17 and 25. Although some mouths comfortably hold 32 adult teeth, wisdom teeth often erupt through the gum line incorrectly leaving pockets where bacteria collect. Other times wisdom teeth grow in sideways and impact healthy teeth causing pain in the gum and jaw.
