Emergency dentistry treats problems that can’t wait for a routine appointment: severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, swelling, bleeding that won’t stop, or a lost crown or filling. SEDA Dental reserves same-day time for urgent cases at our South Florida offices, so you’re seen fast, diagnosed, and out of pain.
Call us right away for a knocked-out tooth, a bad break, swelling in your face or jaw, bleeding that will not stop, or pain that keeps you up at night. A knocked-out adult tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.
Not sure it is an emergency? Call anyway. We will tell you honestly whether you need to come in now or whether it can wait for a regular visit. Damaged teeth have more repair options than most people expect.
Cost should never keep you from being seen for a true emergency. We accept most PPO dental insurance plans and verify your benefits for you. Monthly payment plans are available through CareCredit, and the SEDA Smile Membership Plan helps patients without insurance.
Follow the aftercare instructions we send home with you, take any medication exactly as directed, and stick to soft foods while the area settles. Some tenderness for a day or two is normal. If pain gets worse instead of better, or swelling returns, call us immediately.
Once the emergency is handled, regular checkups and cleanings are the best way to make sure it doesn’t happen twice.
Yes. Call the office closest to you as early in the day as you can and we will work you into the schedule. We reserve time for urgent cases at all five South Florida offices.
Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently, and if you can, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in milk and get to us within the hour. Speed matters more than anything else.
Over-the-counter pain relievers and a cold compress on the outside of the cheek help most people. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum, and avoid very hot or cold food and drinks.
It is urgent, but usually not an emergency. Cover any sharp edge with dental wax, avoid chewing on that side, and call us. We will usually see you within a day or two.
Yes. Many of our long-term patients first came to us in an emergency. We will see you, fix the problem, and you can decide from there.
Most PPO plans cover emergency exams and X-rays the same way they cover regular care. We verify your coverage while you are on your way in.
