Emergency Dentistry

Emergency Dentist in South Florida

Tooth pain, broken teeth, and dental accidents can’t wait. SEDA Dental sees urgent cases quickly at five offices across South Florida.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Emergency dentistry treats problems that can’t wait for a routine appointment: severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, swelling, bleeding that won’t stop, or a lost crown or filling. SEDA Dental reserves same-day time for urgent cases at our South Florida offices, so you’re seen fast, diagnosed, and out of pain.

Why Patients Call SEDA First in an Emergency

Same-day appointments

We hold time in our schedule for urgent cases, so a real emergency doesn’t wait until next week.

Five South Florida offices

Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Jupiter, and Pompano Beach. Help is close by.

Diagnosis before treatment

We find the cause with an exam and X-rays first, then walk you through your options before doing anything.

Full care under one roof

From root canals to extractions and implants, the treatment you need happens in the same practice.

What Happens at an Emergency Visit

1

Call us first

Describe what happened and we’ll tell you what to do right away and get you scheduled.
2

Exam and X-rays

We locate the source of the pain or damage and check for anything you can’t see.
3

Stop the pain

Relieving pain and stabilizing the tooth comes before anything else.
4

Clear treatment plan

You’ll know exactly what the tooth needs, whether that’s a filling, root canal, crown, or extraction.
5

Follow-up care

We schedule any next steps and check that you’re healing the way you should.

When Should You Call an Emergency Dentist?

Call us right away for a knocked-out tooth, a bad break, swelling in your face or jaw, bleeding that will not stop, or pain that keeps you up at night. A knocked-out adult tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.

Not sure it is an emergency? Call anyway. We will tell you honestly whether you need to come in now or whether it can wait for a regular visit. Damaged teeth have more repair options than most people expect.

Emergency Care That Works With Your Budget

Cost should never keep you from being seen for a true emergency. We accept most PPO dental insurance plans and verify your benefits for you. Monthly payment plans are available through CareCredit, and the SEDA Smile Membership Plan helps patients without insurance.

After Your Emergency Visit

Follow the aftercare instructions we send home with you, take any medication exactly as directed, and stick to soft foods while the area settles. Some tenderness for a day or two is normal. If pain gets worse instead of better, or swelling returns, call us immediately.

Once the emergency is handled, regular checkups and cleanings are the best way to make sure it doesn’t happen twice.

Emergency Room or Emergency Dentist?

Tooth pain and damage

An ER can prescribe antibiotics and painkillers, but almost no ER can treat the tooth itself. A dentist fixes the cause.

When the ER is right

Facial trauma, a suspected jaw fracture, or swelling that affects breathing or swallowing belongs in a hospital first.

Time matters

An emergency dental visit is typically far faster than an ER wait, and treatment of the tooth starts the same day.

Emergency Dentistry Questions, Answered

Do you take same-day emergency appointments?

Yes. Call the office closest to you as early in the day as you can and we will work you into the schedule. We reserve time for urgent cases at all five South Florida offices.

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently, and if you can, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in milk and get to us within the hour. Speed matters more than anything else.

Over-the-counter pain relievers and a cold compress on the outside of the cheek help most people. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum, and avoid very hot or cold food and drinks.

It is urgent, but usually not an emergency. Cover any sharp edge with dental wax, avoid chewing on that side, and call us. We will usually see you within a day or two.

Yes. Many of our long-term patients first came to us in an emergency. We will see you, fix the problem, and you can decide from there.

Most PPO plans cover emergency exams and X-rays the same way they cover regular care. We verify your coverage while you are on your way in.
